Pull a 5 x 8 Enclosed Utility Trailer or not?
The 2002 Impala LS with its 3.8 liter 200 HP engine has a towing rate of 1000 lbs.I own a 2001 Impala LS and have towed a utility trailer a number of times with no problems.I had U-Haul install my hitch in 2004 and have towed furniture and yard waste when called upon to do so.Best of luck.

i’m sure it will pull it . but stopping it might be a problem, so for safty sake I don’t think its a good idea.

your transmission will suffer. GM is known for building weak and unreliable transmissions. You start pulling a trailer with your impala and kiss your transmission and about $3500 goodbye because thats how much it will cost to replace your transmission.
