I’ve just retired and I’m trying to economize. I want some opinions…?
I have 2 vehicles. A 2004 PT Cruiser and a 2001 Chevy 1500 4 passenger pickup truck. The truck is paid for and the PT I still owe too much money on. I’m thinking about moving down to just 1 vehicle. I love the gas mileage I get with the Cruiser, which is 30 MPG. The truck gets around 24, which isn’t really that bad but I like at least 30 or better gas mileage. I have a 16-foot utility trailer I could use for hauling material I need for remodeling my home. The Cruiser isn’t really made for pulling the trailer because it’s too small. Any suggestions for a vehicle that would suit my needs or should I just keep what I have and not worry about it?
The cheapest car is the car you already own… I say keep what you got or perhaps get rid of the pt cruiser. The truck is more versatile. You can tow with it and you can bring home large items with it too.

You got a Chev pickup that gets 24 mpg?
I think chevy will buy it back from you to see what they did to it, that is unheard of.

Sell the PT, keep the 1500. Will six miles per gallon really make that much difference in your life when compared to the hassle of buying another vehicle, possibly for more money?

I would say to keep the pick-up truck as you will need it for your remodeling and hauling your trailer and sell the cruiser. After you are done remodeling your home you can always sell the pick-up and get something else newer, it all depends on how much travelling you are going to do if you worry about gas mileage and the confort zone.

since you own the truck and it is an asset, take it out of the equation. all return from your asset now is gratis?the Cruiser is nice but a luxury? why not sell it and downsize to a small runabout car?you can always make extra money with the truck?6 mpg is not a lot for what you get?power,hauling.towing,convenience. hope it helps?
