Can I prime and paint over galvanized my utility trailer?

Do they make a primer that I can spray over my galvanized trailer? It looks crappy so I would like to paint it if possible while I am replacing the deck.

Do NOT use a roller. This will leave far too many issues for you at a later date, as well as screaming AMATEUR and horrible job, to all that look in the future.

A Wagner "Spray-tech" machine (typically $99.00 – 109.00 bucks) will do you wonders. The purchase is truly WORTH it if you want a permanent, and professional, finish.

Use a very good Primer-Sealer first (such as Bin Zisser and/or etc.). Clean the machine as directed. Then use an exterior BOND paint for the first and second coats. Usually this will be a MARINE use rated paint. It will last the longest while providing the most protection necessary for you. Additionally, since it is of a thin bond, but strong, it will work very well with the Wagner. For a beginner, it is relatively easy to control, and inexpensive to use.

Take it from a professional.

Absolutely. Buy primer and a throw away roller and used enamel paint for metal. Spraying is not always the best solution for something that big. It’s expensive and there is a lot of over spray.

You can purchase a primer for covering galvanized metal. i have also washed this type metal with vinegar and it worked well. I would suggest renting a spray gun if you will have no further use for one after this job.
